It's Thanksgiving Day

Today is Thanksgiving Day. I am so ecstatic because I have the opportunity to spend time with my grandparents. I cannot wait to come up and visit again, just because I love to visit and I love the State of Nevada. I would say that Nevada is one of the many beautiful states I have been to. Even though the temperature is low in the winter, Nevada is still beautiful. Dinner will be fantastic and I feel as if I should eat more of Thanksgiving dinner. Even though I'll feel like eating more, I wish to take a nap and just sleep it off.

Another wish I have is that my cousins where here to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with me. Even though my cousins had other plans, it was still nice to come up and visit family. If there was one thing I am not fond of, it would be the mashed potatoes and green beans. There is a handful of items I love, and those loved food items are cranberry sauce, stuffing, turkey, bread (dinner rolls), and fruit. I would also say that today will be a really awesome day. I think it would be nice if we could come up for Thanksgiving and Christmas next year.

More About Me

Here are some more details about me. These details are: I have lived in 1 of the 13 colonies. I have visited the other 12 of the 13 colonies. I lived near Civil War battlefields. I moved up through te ranks in ROTC. My ROTC ranks that I have held are Cadet/Seaman Recruit, Cadet/Seaman Apprentice, Cadet/Chief Petty Officer, Cadet/Ensign. I know a lot of cadets in ROTC. I listen to a lot of classic music. I am currently in my last years of high school, and I am on 2 sports teams for ROTC. Just by this that I have written, you all probably know a lot about me. I feel as if I had shared my personality. Just to let you all know, I am writing these for extra credit in my Lit class. I am going to see if I can write more blogs like this because it keeps me from getting too many thoughts stuck in m y head. There is 1 question I want to ask you all, and it is: DO you all think I should exercise my humor in ROTC? If yes, how many jokes should I crack in ROTC? The reason why I am asking is because I would like to know what you all think the appropriate amount of jokes told to m y fellow cadets without them thinking I am much different from them.

And I can do what I stated in the sentence preceding this one off of meds also, because that is how awesome I am.

Me, Myself and I

I have a vast knowledge of things and I act as if I know nothing. I know I am better than the way I act. For a matter of fact, I have to get my act together and get myself a higher GPA. I need to focus on what's been assigned to me before I perform other tasks assigned me. There is a handful of people who motivate or have motivated me and those people are my mentor, friends, teachers, parents, uncle, the rest of my family, god, instructors, counselors and Gunner.

The Weirdest Feeling

The weirdest feeling is feeling an earthquake while sitting down and playing Yahtzee. At about 9 p.m. on Sunday, November 13th, 2011, a possible 3.0-3.3 magnitude earthquake hit, while I was getting ready for bed. I would say that the earthquake was scary because not only did I hear it through the walls, I felt it move my house from side to side and back again. the earthquake sounded like three semi-trucks parked next to each other with their engines turned on. This earthquake was not the biggest I had felt ever since I had moved to Southern California. The biggest earthquake I had felt was probably a 4.0-5.0. I know that all of the earthquakes I have felt were no where even close to the great Sn Franciso earthquake of 1906 combined.

NJROTC

This year in ROTC, my platoon is bigger than last year. My platoon has 6 officers and about 20 or 22 enlisted cadets. The company is 126 cadets strong. In my platoon, I am one of 5 or 6 officers. When it comes down to participation, my platoon is the best. I want to end on a good note, so I will tell you all that my platoon is, in my opinion, the best platoon in the company.

Veteran's Day

Veteran's Day is not just a day to remember vets, it is also when my great-grandparents were married, before Veteran's Day became a national holiday. This year, Veteran's Day is 11/11/11, which I think is amazing. I learned that my great-grandparents were married in the 1930's. 11/11 started out as Armistice Day after WWI, in 1919, to honor the WWI veterans. In the 1950's, it became Veteran's Day to honor all the vets. I would say that Vetean's Day is awesome. The reason being is that there is no school :) and because we celebrate the vets for what they did for our great nation (USA).

My Goals

Today I will write down my goals for ROTC in my junior year in high school. The reason why I write my goals down is because there is a need that I have to share them with you all.

Here are my goals: Pick up 2 more bars before the end of the 2011-2012 school year. Hit multiple homeruns and grand slams in softball. Get a handful of sacks, interceptions, and pick-sixes in flag football. Run a 9 minute mile. Beast up the house, etc. I am playing in the Army vs Navy game, hopefully on the defensive side of the field. I am also starting left fielder for the softball team. I am batting 6th in the line up and I am the back up catcher.

My Weekend

I would say that my weekend was literally a blast. My Boy Scout trip and I went to Plaster City for the 10th annual Plaster Blaster rocket shoot. I wish you all were there to see how much fun it was, even though the temperature dropped significantly at night, and I mean put on a beanie with ear warmers, medium weight jacket, along with a light weight jacket wrapped around the head to keep warm.

My rocket went 500 + feet up in the air when I shot it off and it wound up landing 50 feet in front of me. Just to give you all a little bit of  info about Plaster City - Plaster city is a gypsum plant where dry wall is made and is probably at sea level or a little bit above sea level.

Friends and Changes

11/3/11

If I had a choice of bringing one of my mentors back to my high school to hang out, the person would have to be C/LT B.H. the reason being B and I are best friends, and I miss B so much after he graduated, last school year. I have seen many changes, not just in ROTC, but also here at my high school, as well. The changes in ROTC that I have seen are: I am an officer, staff meeting are run by the commanding officer, executive officer and command master chief; increased number of cadets (ROTC is up to about 130 cadets); bigger platoons, such as mine (27 cadets, myself included); more NS-1s; most of the high officers are seniors; PT (physical training) is more difficult. The changes at the high school are: one of my friends is the Citizen of the Month, my classes are closer than ever, two of my former teachers have changed rooms for one or more class periods, more cadets are seen around campus, and all of my classes are in the same general area of the campus.
